Nigerians and their love-hate relationship with Super Eagles

'Go super eagles', 'up super eagles', 'I love super eagles' - these are just a few of all the praises that Nigerians are raining on the super eagles following their 1-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup group F match last night, 21/06/2014.

I cannot help but marvel at the way Nigerians have quickly changed their minds from hating the super eagles to loving them just because they won the match. This is a total shift from how they reacted following the Nigeria Vs Iran game where the super eagles played a draw. Many questions are running through my mind, questions such as; why don't we give the team unconditional love and support? Why are they only amazing players when they win and not when they play a good game but lose because soccer is unpredictable? I even read somewhere that keshi was planning to drop Osaze (the man of last night's game). Hmmm.

I seriously think that we need to stop the hypocrisy and support the team unconditionally. We should appreciate good football and should not crucify the players just because they could not win. Ok, before you all crucify me too, I am not saying the team should lose and not win the World Cup (if Argentina and Messi allows them). I am just saying we should support and love them unconditionally. Anyway, those of you who watched the game, what did you think? Do you think they can bring the cup home? Enjoy the rest of your Sunday happy people and remain happy. xoxo...

During Siasia's time as coach Nigerians loved the team even when they lost. Argentina won us in a final and everyone patted Siasia on the back. Nigerians want to see good football not have a heart attack each time the eagles play. Selah.-Newyorker
