Nigerian man who trekked from Lagos to Abuja meets Buhari

Suleiman Hashimu (pictured in red) had promised to trek from Lagos to Abuja if Buhari won the presidential election and yes, he kept to his word. Many skeptics have argued the authenticity of his claim as they believe he covered the distance in a shorter time than required. Oh well, bottom line is, he said he did and Buhari believes him and they have met. Relating his journey to General Buhari, Suleiman said;

"I made a promise because of the love I have for Mr. President that if Buhari should win the 2015 elections, I will trek from Lagos to Abuja which I have done. I thank God that I made a promise and I fulfilled the promise. I passed through Kwara and Niger states to Abuja. I was trekking from 6.00am to 6.00pm and anywhere I find myself when it is 6.00pm, I pass the night there.I spent 18 days from Lagos to Abuja.

Epic Photo: The "Ghana Must Go" saga of 1983

Embedded image permalink

Above is a picture showing illegal immigrants in Nigeria who were being kicked out of the county in 1983. I suppose every country has always had problems with illegal immigrants and some people have been trying to make a case for recent xenophobic attacks around SA by making reference to this. Guys please, the point is that hacking or burning people to death should not be the way out! It is simply wrong to take a life! Plus as seen above, they left with their properties and were not burnt or hacked to death. Anyway, please stay happy. Xoxo

Random post: want some juicy roasted frogs?

Philip Paul holding a skewer of frogs

Oh dear! The man pictured above sells roasted frogs somewhere in Benue state for a living and claims it's good business. I think I tasted one of these as a child but now I don't even remember if it was nice or not. Apparently some Nigerians who love eating this say it tastes better than fish. Hmm as juicy as it looks, I will stick to fish for now mbok. More photos below...

Anyway, please stay happy and spread happiness around. Xoxo

Xenophobia: Mozambican man brutally stabbed to death for being a foreigner

Gosh! I am having nightmares from all these gruesome images online. I literally woke up screaming from one of such nightmares this morning! And to think that I live in this place! I promised myself not to report on this Xenophobia again but I really can't help this one. The Mozambican pictured above (in red) who has been identified as Emmanuel Sithole, was brutally stabbed to death in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg on Saturday in broad day light for being a foreigner in South Africa. The miscreants were not even moved by his plea for mercy. How unsettling! Story below as reported by Times Live reporters Beauregard Tromp and James Oatway,

Outside one spaza shop, a man in a black corduroy jacket and red shirt was walking along the road.

Xenophobia SA: How foreigners are protected by South African Police [photo]

This are the same people that have been commissioned to protect the lives and properties of foreigners. How can they even do that if some of them are against foreigners as well? So it's not about blaming this on uneducated criminals in the townships, the problem is deeply rooted everywhere. I once witnessed a black policeman in Cape Town brutally assault a motorist just because he was a foreigner and the officer kept screaming, "You must go back to your country" while assaulting the man. This happened way before this season of Xenophobic attacks. Xenophobia seems to the norm in South Africa and I see this every day!!! It's a big shame. My heart goes out to all those affected by this cruelty. Please stay happy. Xoxo

SA Xenophobia: Nigerian government promises to evacuate citizens if attacks worsen

As foreigners continue to live in fear following the ongoing xenophobic or Afrophobic attack sweeping through South Africa, Nigerian government has said it will evacuate Nigerians willing to return home if South African officials are unable to control the situation. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali said this while speaking to newsmen in Abuja yesterday April 16th

"If it gets worse it is the duty of our country to make sure our people are brought back and we are taking that duty serious. We are not prepared to allow any of our nationals to be subjected to such inhuman treatment. We are monitoring the situation and will now take action according to the situation that develops,” he said.

Xenophobia in SA: Displaced Nigerians seek refuge in Home Affairs, Pretoria

Due to recent xenophobic violence that has escalated in South Africa, some Nigerians who live in areas affected by the unlawful act by South Africans have made their way to the Department of Home Affairs in Pretoria to avoid being roasted or stoned to death. Shouldn't they rather be running to Nigerian High commission? It is well.
Please stay safe guys if you live around the areas affected. Stay happy too. Xoxo

....and the killings of foreigners in SA's #Afrophobic violence escalates

Recent attacks on foreigners in SA is not only sad but annoying too. The picture above shows how a foreign national was roasted in the 2008 Xenophobic attack. In 2015 we see a similar case in Durban and it saddens my heart. I am unable to comprehend the level of hate in this world. Ignorant people make up all sorts of excuse for their lack of tolerance. We are first of all humans before anything else and it's only when we acknowledge that that anything will change.

One dead and others injured in Akwa Ibom over politics [photo]

Does it always have to be about blood shed? If it is a do or die affair, then surely it's not about leadership. What is all the imposition about? There has been several reports about violent clashes in most states in Nigeria today. I'm not surprised but I was kind of hoping to be disappointed. Sadly, the people who probably won't gain anything from the political party's win or loss are the ones who get caught in this cross fire. Guys please stay safe. No politician or worth dying for mbok!  I'm sorry other photos are just too graphic to share.
Stay happy and spread happiness around. Xoxo.

... and the UCT #RhodesMustFall protest ends with the Fall of Rhodes

Awww the statue of Rhodes falls. Following a recent protest by students from the University of Cape Town, the statue of the late imperialist Cecil Rhodes has been removed from the University campus. The students who claimed the statue represented oppression and institutionalised racism staged a protest demanding the removal of it from the campus and it appears they succeeded. Okay guys well done! You made a noise and it was loud enough. My question now is, what next? Funniest thing is, his presence will always be felt in many ways (the funds, facilities, etc.). I hope that the removal ends institutionalised racism like you claim. Anyway, please stay happy and spread happiness around. Xoxo.
