Award of Pass Degree Abolished in Nigerian Universities by NUC

This is like the most interesting thing I have read in a while. According to reports, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has abolished the award of Pass Degree in Nigerian Universities with effect from the 2013/ 2014 academic session. This should push students to aim higher.

The Vice Chancellor of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof. Abdullahi Zuru made this decision known yesterday February 4th, during the school's 2014/2015 matriculation ceremony.

Prof Zuru stated that the grading system of students in the universities has changed.

“What this means is that the minimum pass mark for courses in the universities will now be 45 per cent, that is, D-grade instead of the previous 40 per cent which was E-grade while the minimum class of grade to be earned by the students will be now be Third Class,” he said.

Interesting! But they would have made the minimum pass mark 50 per cent and that would have been so much better (shoot me hehehe).

Please remain happy and spread happiness around. Xoxo
