Debate of the week: Should African languages be used as the medium of instructruction in education?

This week's debate is focused on the medium of teaching in primary and secondary schools. There is a lot of debate surrounding the languages of learning and teaching in African schools. The argument is that Africa is highly linguistically diverse and as a result imposing English which is not the home language of students on them is detrimental to learning. It is believed that learning in the languages that they know best will lead to better learning. What do you guys think? Should indigenous languages be included as media of instructions in schools? Do you think it would lead to better learning? Kindly support or oppose the motion.
Please stay happy and spread happiness around. Xoxo
