South African football coach nabbed at MMIA Lagos for possession of drugs

A 38-year old man identified Steven Darlugar, a South African Football coach has been arrested by the men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, for attempting to smuggle drugs out of Nigeria to South Africa.
Darlugar said he was promised $6,000 if he succeeded in smuggling the drugs but he ran out of luck and was arrested.
During the passenger screening process of Arik Air passengers on board to South Africa, Methamphetamine weighing 1.54 kilogrammes was found hidden in the compartment of one of Darlugar’s suitcases. Punch reports.

When interrogated, Darlugar, a married father of one confessed that the money he made from being a coach was not just enough if he were to measure up with his peers.
“I am married with a child and have lived in South Africa for about a decade. I coach a team in South Africa. I have worked very hard to attain financial freedom, but have nothing in return. This is my first time of smuggling drugs. I was under financial pressure to cope with peers. A friend introduced me to drug trafficking as a way of making quick money. They promised to pay me $6,000 to take the bag containing the drugs to South Africa,” he said.

It’s funny how it’s always the first time for everyone arrested. Hmm!
Please remain happy and spread happiness around. Xoxo.
