Inspirational photo of the day!

Talk about dedication and commitment! I need to save this in my brain to constantly remind myself that it is possible. Weight loss can feel like such a hassle hey. I literally struggle with this whole thing but it gets frustrating when the weight won't just drop. I only wish there was a way to eat what I like and still lose weight. Anyway, giving up isn't an option for me. I have to keep pushing until I get to where I wanna be. If she can do it, I surely can do it too! Well done babes for the journey.
Beautiful people, you out there trying to lose weight? Nothing is impossible so keep at it and enjoy it while you are at it. Fitness should be a lifestyle and like they say, if you don't like something, change it. Stay happy and have a great week. Xoxo

The wives of the late Ooni of Ife are to remain single or be 'inherited' by new Ooni?

Inherited you know! In this day and age? No matter how progressive the world goes, I have a feeling Nigeria will remain the same. We hide behind tradition to continue treating women like properties. I have been reading very disturbing things since this Ooni's death but this is the most disturbing one really. I don't even know how women in Nigeria can demand to be treated right when most of them subscribe to this whole patriarchal nonsense. Okay Happy, calm down and breathe. Please read full story below and then tell me why I shouldn't be mad...

The wives of the late‎ Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the Olubuse II, by tradition cannot re-marry after the demise of their husband, according to a palace chief.
The chief, who preferred not to be named, said the order was prescribed by the Ife tradition since the Ooni is not considered dead but to have transited to a higher realm.
Maintaining that the Ooni still lives, he said it is forbidden for wives left behind by Oba Sijuwade to re-marry.

""Change' is a mirage sold to us by Buhari to get our votes" - Etcetera on Buhari's presidency

I really thought I was the only one that had reservations about this whole President Buhari due process. Etcetera says it all in this piece. Even the whole “We will defeat Boko Haram in 3 months” popular headline became “Nigerians should not expect magic with Boko Haram” (lol). Anyway, please read the rest below. Enjoy!

“I believe if Nigeria does not kill corruption; corruption will kill Nigeria. I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liabilities and encourage my political appointees to also publicly declare their assets and liabilities.” – President Buhari (during his campaign).
Now, the presidency through the presidential spokesman has said the promise of asset declaration wasn’t made by Buhari but his political party. Jeez! These people just think say we be mumu sha… dem think say everybody for naija dey suffer from dyslexia. Shebi na dem preach say Buhari na modest man with just two houses and 150 cattle? They also said Buhari and Osinbajo have declared their assets, and it is deposited with the code of conduct bureau and the only thing needed is just verification by the bureau? How many months does the Code of Conduct Bureau need to verify an asset of two houses and 150 cattle? Nawa ooo!!! Naija una don see una sef? Is this the “change?”

Please what's this thing about "men are wired that way"?

“Why men cheat” has been a popular topic in many online discussions for a couple of weeks now. Many people have given their various opinions but of the many lame reasons I read, two infuriated me more. One reason is, “men cheat because they are wired that way”. The article even went on to advise women to stop complaining and deal with it.
Now this is one thing that I refuse to understand. Why are women expected to accept it? Bad is bad and cannot become good just because it has been normalised in the society. When people say men are wired that way I often ask questions like, wired by who or by what? Were they created without a conscience or a sense of responsibility? Do they lack the ability to distinguish between right and wrong? I’m certain the answer is NO! So what is this story about being wired that way?

Did former Lagos state governor Fashola really spend N78.3m on a personal website?

I really don’t want to believe that this is true. So reports have been making the rounds in the past few days that immediate past governor of Lagos state, Fashola allegedly spent N78.3m of tax payers money on a personal website. My question is what kind of website cost that much biko? Okay, I know no Nigerian politician is totally clean but it's Fashola though. The one man I thought even though corrupt, would be corrupt with sense. Please is the wind blowing pass and exposing the side of him that we don't know or people are trying to start something? Only time will tell and we are waiting...
Please stay happy beautiful people and spread the happiness around. Xoxo.

President Buhari optimistic about defeating Boko Haram by the end of 2015

buhari 23
It appears President Muhammadu Buhari is making progress with the fight against Boko Haram as he is optimistic about ending the deadly activities of the insurgents by the end of this year. According to DailyPost,
The President made this known in Cotonou on Saturday during a gala lunch held in his honour by the President of Benin Republic, Boni Yayi, where he equally expressed optimism that the dividends of the Multi-national Joint Task Force, MNJTF launched in Cameroon on Thursday would soon become obvious.
This was as President Yayi described his country as the 37th State of Nigeria and assured President Buhari that 800 troops would be contributed to the Joint Task Force by his country in the all-out-assault on insurgents.
While commending Yayi for the gesture, Buhari said, “and I assure you that we will defeat Boko Haram by the end of this year”.
Err … don’t know how I feel about this. It sounds like something I’ve heard before. Buhari was almost certain around the election period that Boko Haram could be defeated in three months but look where we are? Now he says before the end of the year. Anyway, all I can do is wish Mr President all the best and hope his wishes come true. Please stay happy and spread happiness around. Xoxo

... on the issue of cheating

“It was a mistake”, this is the favourite line of people who cheat. I never understand how consensual sex is a mistake. It is never a mistake but a choice! Shouldn’t a mistake be something that is almost an accident? Anyway, I shall leave this for another post. All I wanna share today is the above image and allow it do the talking. Keep enjoying your weekend guys and stay happy. Xoxo.

Happy new month beautiful people!

Just hang in there. Have not just a beautiful month but beautiful days! Stay happy guys. Xoxo

Prolific Nigerian comedian MC Bakassi rebrands with new stage name

Born Okosun Ehimen Daniel from Edo state is surely one of the brightest comedians in Nigeria and Africa. A graduate of political science and public Administration from the prestigious University of Benin started comedy way back April 2010 first as a hobby but later turned into a very serious business venture
Okosun Ehi Daniel on climbing the stage for the very first time at the very popular Hall 2 car park in Uniben decided to adopt a name "Bakassi" not because of anybody answering the name but because it was a nickname back in secondary school and during the time of the "issakaba" home movie.
With the name "Mc Bakassi" he rose to the highest height in the University by becoming one time best comedian in Uniben. This made him anchor top flight management events like the convocation Variety, Carol service, VC end of year party, freshers’ orientation for three straight years (2011-2013). He also performed at major events in Benin and organised one of the biggest show in Uniben tagged "VC Must Laff".

A scorned woman on a mission for revenge or a victim?

A few hours ago I stumbled on a story online about a so called celebrity who allegedly raped a lady and here are some of the comments I found on the post: “She probably asked for it by putting herself in a vulnerable position”, “She was probably drunk when it happened and now she is claiming it was rape”. “I do not believe for one second he raped her! She is a scorned woman trying to get revenge”. Now, these comments were more disturbing to me than the rape accusation.
It was sickening to me that most people still victimise the victim and believe that it’s okay to have a woman without her consent. I am not interested in this accusation being false or true. I am only concerned about how some people still think and speak about this issue of rape. Unfortunately, this is the kind of society that I belong to as a Nigerian. A society where most men still believe that a ‘NO’ means ‘maybe’ or even ‘yes’. Most men and unfortunately women in Nigeria don’t even know what rape is. To them when they hear rape, the only image they have is that of you being tied down by a bunch of strangers while they take their turns on you. It has to be that violent to qualify as rape.

We need patriotic and not compromised Nigerians as ministers - Buhari on why appointing ministers is taking long

The president of Nigeria has been nicknamed Baba go slow by Nigerians because he is taking his time to do a lot of things including appointing ministers. Well, Buhari says he has good reasons to take his time because he is trying to rebuild the nation. According to him, a lot of experienced and knowledgeable Nigerians fit for the job have been compromised and appointing them will return Nigeria to square one. Oh well sir, if this is what Nigeria needs to curtail corruption, please take your time. Anyway, read the rest of what he says below and stay happy. Xoxo…
“From what I have seen so far, we need very patriotic Nigerians (to be ministers); Nigerians that can work very hard with knowledgeable experience; committed Nigerians to be in charge of ministries.
“A lot of institutions in Nigeria are compromised, everybody for himself and God for all of us. It is most unfortunate. We have people, educated and experienced people, but everybody seems to be working for himself on how much they could get away with as soon as possible.
“We have to look for technocrats and politicians. We have to look out for decent people in this class to give them the responsibility of being in charge of ministries and important parastatals.

Graphic photos: Ghastly accident along Ikorodu road leaves two dead

The horrific accident occurred between Onipanu and Palmgrove bus-stop. The second truck driver was fortunate enough to survive and escaped from the scene. How sad! If you drive in Nigeria, you need to see this list of traffic offenses and fines

LASTMA

Happy people, I hope you all are having a great day.So I found this very interesting list of traffic offenses and I couldn't help but wonder why the fine for driving under the influence was so low. I feel like this just means, "it's okay to drive under the influence". Please why on earth is the fine so low? But anyway, see full list below and know your rights so that the next time you get pulled over you ask for a ticket. Like rights work in Nigeria!
Anyway, stay happy guys. Xoxo
