"When people start talking about this subsidy I honestly get confused" - Buhari on fuel scarcity crisis in Nigeria

This has got to be the best interview I have read in a while! Buhari wowed me with his intelligent responses to the questions. Speaking in a new interview with Daily Trust, President elect, Buhari says he is confused about the current situation in the petroleum industry and claims by the government of subsidizing the petroleum sector as there is a great shift on how things were in the sector during his time as Military leader and now. He also assures Nigerians that he will try and find out what went wrong and see how it can be resolved. Read excerpts of what he said in the interview below.

One burning issue is fuel subsidy. I believe you are aware of the queues in major cities like Lagos and Abuja. The fuel importers say they are unsure of the direction of the new government in this area. Have you considered maintaining or withdrawing this subsidy or are you questioning whether it didn’t exist at all?

One of the problems I have, other than the military, is the petroleum industry where I served for three and a half years under General Obasanjo. When people start talking about this subsidy I honestly get confused. I will tell you this, and I hope it will answer what you want to know. Back then we had a refinery in Port Harcourt, which was refining 30,000 barrels a day of Nigerian crude. Later, it was upgraded to refine 100,000 barrels a day.

Photo: Fuel scarcity leaves passengers stranded at Lagos airport

This is one of the many benefits of being a citizen of an oil producing country. As a result of the ongoing fuel scarcity in Nigeria, passengers have been left stranded in airports as major airlines cancel operations. And this country has a government in place! It is well! I just hope by the time I come back, this country will be a place to live in.
Please stay happy guys. Xoxo

Hello men, an orgasm a day can lower your risk of prostrate cancer by 20 per cent!

According to a new study, researchers claim regular orgasms can reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men by 20 per cent. They also claim that men in the 40-49 age bracket who ejaculate 21 or more times a month, lower the risk by 22 per cent. Interesting stuff! Read full story below…

Men who ejaculate more regularly throughout their lives lower their risk of the disease. The researchers, from Harvard Medical School, did not explain why orgasms could lower prostate cancer risk. However it has previously been theorised that regular orgasms may flush out cancer-causing chemicals in the prostate.

Prayers is what Nigeria needs, and not trekking - Buhari's aide tells trekkers

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHDXFvWSbjpfb4S8Et5aQnUMVTv6Wi3fjSQfEVZLDTPwnlAVn4Q7HtUnO5IR0wFWijK1ILTAgeorKYcWvKVfYp7lzYxcLdhjtFABBHNQKhHVjiYNrmdURdqDJiS4asx2uQJQXVehCcUxfR/s400/trek.jpg

Mohammed Shehu, an aide to President-elect Buhari, has advised overzealous Nigerian youths, who cannot stop trekking to celebrate politicians, to pray for the incoming administration instead of trekking. Mr. Shehu said this while speaking to newsmen during an interview in Abuja.

"It’s kind of overwhelming. Last week, I told youths to stay where they are, stop trekking, and pray for the incoming administration instead. We have a lot of challenges; light, unemployment, insecurity, and so on. So it is more profitable for them to stay where they are and pray instead of taking the dangerous risk of walking all the way to Abuja,’’ Mr. Shehu said.

Big deal! Buhari seen in an airport shuttle

General Muhammadu Buhari was pictured in the shuttle bus at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja and some people think this is a big deal. Okay great stuff but please why is the bus empty? I would have loved to see other people in the bus besides his people. I’m just saying! Anyway, please stay happy. Xoxo

... and sadly this is how Nigerians Live in their Oil Rich Nation (photos)

This is what it actually means to be a citizen of "Africa's richest economy" and an oil rich country indeed! People now have to take the fuel tanks of their generators to gas stations to buy fuel as a result of fuel scarcity. Like it's not enough to deal with power supply, now this? To you out there that think this is funny, please there is nothing funny about this and laughing about it should make you question your existence. I think Nigerians laugh too damn much and that's why the country is still where it is. Please stay happy. Xoxo

Nigerian man who trekked from Lagos to Abuja meets Buhari

Suleiman Hashimu (pictured in red) had promised to trek from Lagos to Abuja if Buhari won the presidential election and yes, he kept to his word. Many skeptics have argued the authenticity of his claim as they believe he covered the distance in a shorter time than required. Oh well, bottom line is, he said he did and Buhari believes him and they have met. Relating his journey to General Buhari, Suleiman said;

"I made a promise because of the love I have for Mr. President that if Buhari should win the 2015 elections, I will trek from Lagos to Abuja which I have done. I thank God that I made a promise and I fulfilled the promise. I passed through Kwara and Niger states to Abuja. I was trekking from 6.00am to 6.00pm and anywhere I find myself when it is 6.00pm, I pass the night there.I spent 18 days from Lagos to Abuja.

Epic Photo: The "Ghana Must Go" saga of 1983

Embedded image permalink

Above is a picture showing illegal immigrants in Nigeria who were being kicked out of the county in 1983. I suppose every country has always had problems with illegal immigrants and some people have been trying to make a case for recent xenophobic attacks around SA by making reference to this. Guys please, the point is that hacking or burning people to death should not be the way out! It is simply wrong to take a life! Plus as seen above, they left with their properties and were not burnt or hacked to death. Anyway, please stay happy. Xoxo

Random post: want some juicy roasted frogs?

Philip Paul holding a skewer of frogs

Oh dear! The man pictured above sells roasted frogs somewhere in Benue state for a living and claims it's good business. I think I tasted one of these as a child but now I don't even remember if it was nice or not. Apparently some Nigerians who love eating this say it tastes better than fish. Hmm as juicy as it looks, I will stick to fish for now mbok. More photos below...

Anyway, please stay happy and spread happiness around. Xoxo

Xenophobia: Mozambican man brutally stabbed to death for being a foreigner

Gosh! I am having nightmares from all these gruesome images online. I literally woke up screaming from one of such nightmares this morning! And to think that I live in this place! I promised myself not to report on this Xenophobia again but I really can't help this one. The Mozambican pictured above (in red) who has been identified as Emmanuel Sithole, was brutally stabbed to death in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg on Saturday in broad day light for being a foreigner in South Africa. The miscreants were not even moved by his plea for mercy. How unsettling! Story below as reported by Times Live reporters Beauregard Tromp and James Oatway,

Outside one spaza shop, a man in a black corduroy jacket and red shirt was walking along the road.

Xenophobia SA: How foreigners are protected by South African Police [photo]

This are the same people that have been commissioned to protect the lives and properties of foreigners. How can they even do that if some of them are against foreigners as well? So it's not about blaming this on uneducated criminals in the townships, the problem is deeply rooted everywhere. I once witnessed a black policeman in Cape Town brutally assault a motorist just because he was a foreigner and the officer kept screaming, "You must go back to your country" while assaulting the man. This happened way before this season of Xenophobic attacks. Xenophobia seems to the norm in South Africa and I see this every day!!! It's a big shame. My heart goes out to all those affected by this cruelty. Please stay happy. Xoxo
